Welcome to Fulton!

Fulton is the largest city in and the county seat of Callaway County. The city is home to two well-known universities, Westminster College and William Woods University.

The first settlement in the county was in 1809 at Cote Sans Dessein along the Missouri River. Fulton was founded and became the county seat in 1825 but was not incorporated until March 14, 1859. The city was originally named Volney after Constantin François de Chassebœuf, comte de Volney, but was changed to honor Robert Fulton, the engineer and inventor, two months after the initial Volney name in 1825.

A few hundred years later…Fulton is home to many historical sites that are not only listed but more importantly recognized by the National Register of Historic Places. Included in this honored recognition are the M. Fred Bell Rental Cottage, M. Fred Bell Speculative Cottage, Brandon-Bell-Collier House, George Washington Carver School, Court Street Historic Residential District, Downtown Fulton Historic District, John Augustus Hockaday House, Pitcher Store, Robnett-Payne House, Westminster College Gymnasium, Westminster College Historic District, to name a few.

There is so much history to explore in Fulton! So while you’re exploring, why not stop by the Post Office Bar & Grill to enjoy the most delicious food Fulton has to offer!

Delicious Wings!

January 12, 2026

Tonight the service was great! Food was good, esp the wing drummies. They really hyped them up for us cause I love the wings elsewhere. They promised they rivaled them… if yes they did! Delicious!

Good Food! Good People!

July 7, 2023

We’ve been going to the Post Office every chance we can since moving out here over a year ago and haven’t been disappointed yet. The servers are nice, our order comes out quick and everything we’ve tried is great. You can sit at the bar or a table indoor or outdoor, a booth inside or pick it up & take it home. They have a pool table, a jukebox & those betting games. I really can’t think of anything negative about this place, good food & good people!

Cool Vibe! Good Food!

Great dive bar in an old post office. Cool vibe. Great Bloody Mary’s on a Sunday morning. French dip was pretty good, although i do wish they had some pepperoncinis. Pool tables. I really dig the way they still kept the post office stuff in the entrance.

Exceptional

January 8, 2022

I’ve been to Fulton a number of times but never found the PO and I’m sad it took me this long to do so. Service was exceptional – tons of personality and I felt like I was part of the regulars from the moment I ordered my first beer of the afternoon. My drink was never empty (until I cut myself off for the night). The food was typical bar fare – good but not great – but that’s from a single experience (the burger on special that day). The atmosphere is nice, big indoor area plus outdoor seating (with heaters) for days when the temperature is lower than we’d like. Smoking is available in the outdoor area but it’s big and aired out enough that I didn’t walk out of there smelling like smoke. Overall this is definitely a place to return to.

Down-to-Earth American Food!

December 4, 2024

If you’re in Fulton, you should definitely spend an evening at the Post Office Bar & Grill—it feels like half the town meets there for dinner and a night out. The people are incredibly friendly. The food is okay (it’s not a Michelin-starred restaurant)—down-to-earth and American, just what you’d expect in a small Missouri town. I would definitely love to come back again.

Food orders came out perfect!

March 15, 2021

I have visited this place almost every time I stop by in Fulton for lunch/Dinner to get a pork tenderloin sandwich. Tonight, 14th of march around 5pm, the bar tender/waitress that night was stellar! Not only did the food orders come out perfect and to the right people for a group of 30, She still ran the bar too! Recalling exactly what people had ordered and intentions to pay for whom was spot on. I have worked in a similar capacity like Hers before and I know how difficult Her job was tonight. Not only do if recommend visiting this establishment for Parties/get togethers with friends and family, but I recommend a pay raise for that girl working tonight. Keep up the good work!
